Description

The optional add-on APD1 Camera and Laser System (CALS) enhances the accuracy of saw blade alignment, thereby making precision positioning easier. The system is situated in a sealed housing inside the main APD work area and is mounted above the cutting table to ensure tight focus and minimal laser spread. This ensures an accurate alignment to the peripheral blade (see diagrams below).

A laser is fired down onto the process material surface, which provides a cross projection, the angle between the projected lines adjusted by the user to suit their application. The laser is
aligned to accurately chart the travel of the saw blade across the material to be cut, and therefore allows for precision angular adjustment of the sample to match the samples' geometry/ wafer device pattern prior to cutting.

An in-situ high contrast camera provides output to a high contrast, monochromatic monitor, allowing the user to accurately position the process material relative to the laser in a repeatable manner.Alignment with previous cutting operations is now also possible.

Laser System

The laser alignment system incorporates a grating which splits the beam into two lines, with the angle between the two being adjustable. This is useful to those whose interest is in the
alignment of samples with perpendicular cuts, e.g. dicing operations.

Camera

The high quality monochrome camera offers exceptional contrast and clarity, and offers excellent shock and vibration resistance. Wafer geometry can be viewed with ease. It's compact size means the system is small enough to be housed in a fixed location even with the hood in it's closed position.
